Find a journal and dedicate it to Hot Pilates Training. Complete all of your homework, journal entries and notes in this journal.
Your required reading is an amazing book called Pilates Anatomy by Rael Isacowitz and Karen Clippinger. This reading will help set you up for success for all of the exercises we will be digging deeply into during our weekend intensive together. Your goal is to read pages 1 - 50 BEFORE the training starts on January 3rd. Homework questions due on or before January 3rd (to be answered in your journal):
- In your own words - what is the brief history of Pilates?
- What is the Powerhouse?
- Explain the two primary muscle groups of the spine
- Explain a “neutral pelvis”
- What are the major joint movements of the limbs?
Practice! Take Hot Pilates classes between now and the start date of training. Be present during these classes and take time to reflect and journal after each class. Journal on what you noticed the teacher and students are doing, what you are feeling, and any breakthroughs that might occur.
Prepare your body and mind for your intensive weekend, plan to bring your food and multiple exercise outfits.
